The painting The Vacuum Cleaner Painting #2 is one of the first works I created after deciding to use other artists’ paintings as a starting point for my own art. In this particular case, however, the reference was one of my own earlier works titled ZNGR.

The original painting was created during my “nude painting phase”, which I was very eager to move away from. I began to feel uncomfortable within those boundaries, as if I was obliged to keep painting nudes even though it no longer brought me any joy or artistic interest.

Because of this, The Vacuum Cleaner Painting #2 became very important to me on a psychological level. It represents a transition — leaving behind something that no longer fulfilled me, despite all the time and effort I had invested, and moving toward something new.

As for the title, every time I showed the original painting ZNGR during colloquiums, it was never referred to by its actual name. Instead, my classmates always called it The Vacuum Cleaner Painting, because they found the vacuum cleaner to be the most striking element of the composition. That titel eventually stuck, which is why The Vacuum Cleaner Painting #2 also refers back to the original work.
