"The Neighborhood"

A child stands between two worlds – where the inside meets the outside, where one must be many things and try not to lose oneself. Surrounded by darkness and the silence of autumn, the streetlight shines like an anchor.

It is a painting about the complex spaces of childhood, where as children we learn to adapt to the world of adults. The cat is the girl's friend – and the comfort that is sometimes needed.

The Neighborhood is a moment when time stands still – a light in the middle of a changing world. A reminder that we are welcome to change form and find new paths, as long as we can see the light.
