”Lions Gate”
A girl stands still between two white lions. Behind her, the path curves toward what was once a home. Time has settled heavily over the place – in crooked rooftops, withered vines, and the absence of life. And yet, there are traces. Traces of someone who once set out chairs, planted flowers, opened doors.
In one hand, she drags a worn-out stuffed animal through the dust. A remnant of something soft in a world that’s beginning to turn hard. The lions still guard the gate – but what do they guard now? They stand silent and unmoving, like dreamlike sentinels of something forgotten, something sacred, perhaps just something that once was. For a brief moment, the girl’s presence brings them back to life.
This painting doesn’t just depict a place in decline, but a threshold. Between the familiar geography of childhood and the unknown beyond. Between what humans build and what nature reclaims. Between what we remember and what we can no longer reach.
In the golden light beneath a purple sky, a moment arises where everything feels possible – or irretrievably lost.
