The shirt wasn't hers, but it felt like it was sent to her. Too long, too soft, scented with sun and something safe.

She sat in the window, legs against the heat, her gaze empty thoughts gliding past like shadows.

Something in her changed, without drama, like ice that breaks slowly but inevitably.

Posters seemed wrong, friends moved away, her mother's voice became a reminder.

She hid in the fabric, not from the cold but to be allowedto be away for a while.

Forehead against the window, eyes awake, not sad.

When the voice called, she got up, hanging the shirt in place. It would be there tomorrow. Just like herself a little bit new.
