"Scarecrow" is a painting about the barriers we create around ourselves and the constructions we set up in front of us to keep others at a distance.
In the scene, we see a boy pass by a small ramshackle cabin surrounded by a fence, which expresses isolation and distance. In front of the house a scarecrow is raised, wearing an old red jacket and serving as a conspicuous symbol of keeping distance.
Like the hazy blue landscape the boy is heading into, this is exactly what we experience when we are prevented from getting close to other people. We become insecure and find it difficult to navigate in the relationship with the other person, who isolates himself.
