"At the end of the World"

is part of Thommas´ series of paintings, which deals with what shapes us as people in relation to the important caregivers who have the greatest impact through their presence and absence. We spend the rest of our lives after our teenage years reconnecting with the person we were before we were influenced by our surroundings with shame and praise.

Here at the end of the world lies a house, completely and utterly abandoned, it is clear that here has been a life and a dream of freedom and a future, which has now burst and become the past. The picture tells a story of childhood memories and what they mean for our self-understanding. When we as adults revisit the spaces we grew up in, we can be able to see ourselves in a different light and perhaps understand and challenge our self-perception.
