Collection: Troels Andersen

Troels (1981)

Path into Art:  Since Troels was a child, he has appreciated art, growing up near the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and was fascinated by its exhibitions and atmosphere. Originally, he trained as a graphic designer and worked with lines, aesthetics, and precision. But Troels always felt the urge to paint outside the lines and go wild. So when he first started doing exactly that in his work—it became his journey from then on.

His Style: Troels would describe his style as powerful and colorful, with a strong underlying interaction of fear and love. His goal is for the viewer to feel drawn in, fascinated, yet also included in the work. He puts a little piece of his heart into each painting, and that makes his work unique.

How he Develops his Work:  It evolves from emotions. Troels usually start a painting neatly and figuratively, then loosen up along the way, becoming more fragmented and wild. When reality and grandeur hit, and he feels a twinge in his heart, he knows it’s there.

His Inspiration: He is influenced by historical events, his present, and the idea of the future. He has a deep respect and fascination for the historical and cultural paradigm that has brought us to where we are today. On that foundation, Troels adds his present and how he sees the future.

Troels is inspired by anything that can add value to his work; nature, culture, musicians, and artists who suddenly become catalysts for a new painting.
