Collection: GUERREROPROJECTS

GUERREROPROJECTS (1976), is a Chilean artist based in France. She describes herself as a “character designer artist” – creating unique and expressive figures through her art.

Her work is inspired by vintage cartoons, kitsch culture, and the lowbrow art movement,a visual art movement that emerged in the late 1960s and 1970s, primarily in Los Angeles, resulting in a playful and whimsical visual style.

Throughout her studies in Chile, the UK, and France, Nancy explored a wide range of artistic techniques, including sculpture, stone and wood carving, casting, ceramics, printmaking, silkscreen, digital image processing, and various DIY methods.

These skills all come together in her practice, forming a rich and diverse body of work that reflects both her creativity and craftsmanship.

The artist about her work:

My characters are manifested in various ways as joy charms. My work is only achieved if it makes someone smile.
The unexpected is a common element in my work. In old cartoons Bunnies are cheeky and can pop up everywhere. For example, the sculpture bunny, is a tribune to OSWALD from the early Disney cartoons.
Al my characters are suppose to be a disguised person like advertising mascots, Since I was young I was  always curious about who was behind the masks.
I had such fun making the sculpture Gojira. Every time I start a new character I do some research and I came along of a guy in a costume (Japanese DIY movie making) there is too much images of mind blowing spécial effects made with few resources. These brilliant artistic solutions remind me that my art doesn’t need to be perfect. Doubts and failure are part of the process and make the artworks much more interesting. The sculpture Goijra is one of my favorite pieces so far.
