Collection: Elina Ojakangas
Elina Ojakangas is a Swedish / Finnish painter with a background in tattooing. After moving from tattoo work to oil painting, she completed her art studies at the Gerleborg School in Stockholm.
A year ago, she chose to deepen her practice and is currently studying at the Swedish Academy of Realist Art in Simrishamn.
Her work draws inspiration from neo-classicism, cubism, and surrealism. Symbolism plays central role in her imagery, with each object chosen carefully and deliberately. Every painting contains a hidden narrative, often rooted in her own experience.
Contrasts feature prominently in her work and express her own inner complexity: dynamism against stillness, humor against dysthymia (a form of chronic, long lasting depression). The human figure is always at the center, reshaped and sculpted into new and unexpected forms.
